Creating energy efficient Data Centres

Data

BSSEC has significant experience in helping to make data centres more energy efficient. We have helped create energy efficient data centres for a range of clients including well-known names such as UCAS, Mencap, Nationwide, Flagship Media and the data centre provider Atos.

BSSEC is Carbon Trust accredited to deliver low energy solutions to new and existing data centres and has provided numerous audits and Carbon Trust Standard certification work to Atos. BSSEC are also endorsers for The European Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency in Data Centres.

In 2015 BSSEC worked for both Intel and HP in their data centres, via Schneider, as a part of ESOS work to audit and recommend energy efficiency savings in existing data centres.

Our work in the sector has given us unique insight into the energy saving opportunities that often exist in data centres. Maintenance and operation of major plant and systems is a major issue and as such an opportunity for energy efficiencies. This is especially true with cooling, which is normally a significant cost and where savings can be made. We have also regularly encountered opportunities that require capital investment, lighting changes for example.
