BSSEC have developed a smart meter that is smart, the next generation of technology, an Enabled Smart Meter. Enabled because it does take action to implement energy saving actions based on the measurements it takes.
Most smart meters are not smart. This is because they only measure energy use, they don’t take any action to reduce energy usage as a result of what they measure.
