Healthcare Projects

Objectives

b:ssec has undertaken projects in the medical sector for the NHS and BUPA, as well as smaller care homes. We understand the care that has to be taken to ensure that our work does not impact on the operation of the service provided by these organisations. Whilst also helping to reach strict targets set by large organisations, such as the NHS, above and beyond national targets that are already established.

Delivery

The NHS employed b:ssec to provide an assessment of carbon saving opportunities at Poole Hospital to meet their target of an 18% reduction of their carbon footprint. Including an assessment of carbon management, building fabric and services. Whereas BUPA requested a strategic design advice consultation to assist them in establishing the business case for new build low and zero carbon homes. b:ssec also provided advise on ways to reduce the carbon footprint of BUPA’s existing estate to ensure that they meet their targets.

Results

A combined annual saving of 23k tonnes of CO2 and £2m was predicted for the two projects.
